When dealing with the possessions
ReplyDeleteof any given noun,
The rules for punctuating
aren't that profound.
The apostrophe's where it ought to be
if it's tucked away safe and sound.
But...
If you are feeling that 'you are'
just doesn't have the right flow,
Here's where your apostrophe
desperately needs to go!
"You're" as in "you're learning",
"your" as in "your need to know".
PUNC-RAWK.
P.S. Follow my blog, already. Haha. ;)
P.P.S. I totally messed up the first triplet. With ANY given noun, the apostrophe DOES belong, if it ends with an 's'.
ReplyDelete..As in, "Lauren's blog", "Jackson's silly mistake", etc.. But when dealing with possessions of the direct subject "you", there is none.
Therefore "if your in the Peterborough neighborhood" reads like "if your WHAT is in the Peterborough neighborhood??"
Dangit Jackson, I knew when I tip-tapped this out and didn't bother to proof read there'd be something I screwed up AND that you'd be all over it like roadkill to the highway.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I read the first line in your poem I thought "fucker..." in the best possible way, of course.
I didn't know you had a blog! I just thought you were following, when you first signed up I checked and saw no link, but this is no longer true, yes?
