Got to get livin'.

Oh personal blogging, how I miss you so.

I spend approximately 3/4 of my week on a computer, playing around on facebook, twitter, twibs and wordpress, and yes I get paid for it. However, once it comes to updating my personal blog I just don't feel the passion for it I once use to. Funny eh? How doing what you love for a living makes doing what you love, not fun.

Every once and a while I venture to the Sanderson branch public library and surf around for my own enjoyment. I sit for approximately ten minutes before thinking "uck, I don't even want to look at a computer." C'est la vie.

Okay, so life. What's new?

I work at a shoe store in downtown Toronto, where my days are divided between selling shoes, writing a product knowledge manual for training and trying to manage the online social networks of the store. I also make jewelry which in about 2 weeks, will be sold in a salon on King St. Sounds glamorous, eh? Yah...(fart noise.)

Most days I feel discouraged because my readership hasn't increased, or worried that my writing is trite and people don't give a crap about shoes.I come home from work to hang out with feathers and go to bed with glue in my hair.
I just keep waiting for my boss to say "The Internet is useless! Back to sales you go! Your blog sucks! Your writing sucks! YOU SUCK!." or for someone to want a refund on their earrings.

"Um, feathers are SO yesterday."

However, I keep some sanity in reminding myself that "The future is now and computers are part of it! and lots of successful people suck, but somehow still make a living."

Because the only experience I have with marketing comes in the form of University cabinet, and throwing a singular art show, I spend every free moment in the library.

Such literary classics as "The idiot's guide to marketing." and "Hey, idiot, here are some marketing tips." and "You don't know jack shite about anything." have been added to my reading roster.

When I think about spelling and grammar and epoxy glue I feel the onset of an ulcer. Sometimes, when I use spellcheck I mutter "Phony" to myself and look around to make sure no one notices I actually have no idea what I'm doing.
I ONLY PASSED UNIVERSITY ENGLISH WITH A 70! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I cackle inside my head. Then I have to remind myself to get a social life, because clearly a lack of one is having an effect on my sanity.

On the topic of social lives, I have none. Nadda. Zip.
There are nights where I've gone out, and you better believe I document those rarities.
Look here are some.

New Years Eve. I spent more time getting ready than going out.
A whole bottle of wine? You BAD girl!
I went to bed by 1 am and spent the next day watching 'Friends' re-runs wishing I hadn't been so wild the night before.

Friends! In my house! Look how crazy we are!
These aren't my friends. They're my room-mates. I just came out to ask Jay to take off my dress.

This was at a party my friend Izz had.
I was there for an entire half of an hour before declaring I had to go to bed.
It was 10pm.
I was asleep by 10:30.
I know, I know. You Crrraazzzy cat.

So that's pretty much the summary of Lauren these days. Don't get me wrong, I take everything in stride and I'm definitely not complaining. I guess I just wanted to show, there 'ain't much to write about these days. Haha.

Anywhoodles. Be a doll and check out my work blog.

It would help me sleep at night, really. I'm actually so super serious.
